Askolotl Answers: Opinions on Dulwich?

Dear Octopus,

Thank you for your question and your blessing. However, there is nothing behind me other than millennia of wisdom and wit. The only reason I am never seen is that I reside at the bottom of the Huangpu River, where I have secret ways of knowing all current events (no pun intended). I swim out only when called upon by curious beings!

Now, back to your question!

Dulwich? Ahh, by Dulwich, I assume you mean Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong—the hole in the wall school located in Jinqiao. The one people often incorrectly pronounce as “Dull-witch” when, in fact, it is pronounced “Dull-itch”. The very same one ranked only 5 places below SAS in the 2025 Forbes China International School Ranking.

Ahh, yes. Dulwich.

Well, I have not heard much about Dulwich, as most conversations around the Jinqiao area tend to focus on the schools Pinghe and Concordia.

From what I do know, Dulwich is a British school. According to my observations, this is definitely true. They treat their academics like they treat their tea—with utmost respect. Dulwich students can often be spotted strutting to school in suits, ties, and checkered skirts each day. Each student is required to learn cursive in year 5 to be granted their “pen license”. This skill evidently serves them well, as Dulwich students can often be heard cussing in cursive when they lose to SAS in sports games.

In summary, Dulwich is a great school. They truly deserve that hard-earned spot, only 5 places below SAS in the 2025 Forbes China International School Ranking.

I hope this helps!

Your wise friend,

Askolotl
