Past Members

Founders

Grace Deng

Grace Deng was the Head and Managing Editor for Pudong Press, “the only journalism club at SAS.” When not making fun of Pudong Press’ editor-in-chief for constantly advertising Pudong Press as “the only journalism club at SAS,” she enjoys voraciously devouring news about politics and international relations, playing piano, and taking ridiculous photos of her cat. As winner of SAS’ English department’s excellence award her sophomore year, she also enjoys buying new books that she promises she’ll read but never does.

Hanwen Cao

Hanwen Cao was the Editor in Chief for Pudong Press. With her experience of being an executive and President of other clubs, she entertains herself by reassuring others of her amazing abilities. She enjoys advertising the truth of Pudong Press as “the only journalism club at SAS”, and often brainstorms ludicrously haphazard ideas that need to be pacified by the Managing Editor. She is committed to a serious monogamous relationship with her duvet and loves horror novels and movies. When she is free, she likes to zone out, play tennis, and interact with her cats.

Adeena Liang– Chief of Operations

Adeena Liang was the Chief of Operations for Pudong Press. Starting from ninth grade, she has repeatedly honed her emailing skills, as well as her skills in making spreadsheets. Highly unqualified for all of her positions, Adeena is also the president of Baobei, the president of Roots&Shoots, the secretary of the executive student council, and the vice president of our school’s National Honour Society. In her spare time, she likes to beat people up in the name of “playing a sport”. Adeena also loves to tend to her farm in her favourite game, Hay Day.

Michelle Zhou– Co-Head Photographer

Michelle Zhou was one of the two Heads of Photography at Pudong Press. She is mainly interested in street photography and candids. She has completed the New York Film Academy summer high school program for photography and has had her photos featured on several websites. Her speciality is smartphone photography, and she has an uncanny eye for composition and capturing the perfect moment.

Past Executives

Cynthia Wang- Editor in Chief

Michelle Huang – Managing Editor

Cynthia Wang is the Editor in Chief for Pudong Press. She only uncovered her interest in the art of language in her freshman year of high school. After being awarded the English department’s excellence award and discovering an innate appreciation for poetry in that year, she decided to pursue writing in other forms during her sophomore year. Besides writing, she often entertains herself with various activities such as playing violin, reading, and blogging on her personal blog Quotidian Musings.

Julie Xie- Chief of Operations

Gabrielle Zhu- Head of Photography

Julie Xie is the Chief of Operations for Pudong Press. She was a freshman when she joined Pudong Press through a mutual friend. She has been working with the Pudong Press team as website designer because she really enjoys design. She loves to do a lot of art in her free time but she also dedicates her time to a lot of sports. She would consider herself a very active person although she does waste a lot of time being a couch potato. Julie loves photography too. She takes photos of the many places she’s been to and she loves sharing them with people.

Gabrielle Zhu is the Head of Photography for Pudong Press. She spends her free time drawing, sketching, or painting, in a process she sometimes accidentally calls “art-ing”. She regularly enjoys reading books and then proceeding to rant about them to anyone willing to listen. Of all the literature she reads, poetry has always been a soft spot. Besides reading poetry, she also avidly writes poetry, and serves as one of the co-presidents of Poetry Club.
