Losing to YCIS with a 25 point margin and watching their opponents wrap each other in triumphant hugs was not how SASPD’s junior varsity boys basketball team intended their day to start at SISAC. “Don’t talk about it,” said Justin Kuan ’22. From Friday, November 1st, to Sunday, the SAS-ISB Swim Invitational Meet was held at SASPD. 19 schools across Asia participated in this meet – one of the largest non-APAC swim meets that lasted for three days. SASPD came in second place with over 800 points while SASPX came in first with over 1200 points. Regardless of their school or age, everyone held anticipations and goals before this swim meet. SATURDAY – Riding on a fruitful season, Shanghai American School Pudong (SAS PD)’s varsity tennis team continued their winning streak at British International School Shanghai (BISS). The 2019 SISAC tennis tournament gathered four schools from Shanghai – Concordia International School Shanghai (CISS), Yew Chung International School (YCIS), BISS, and SAS PD. Along with several local schools, SISAC also welcomed Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS). The Saturday of Oct. 12 was a busy day for Shanghai American School Pudong’s season one athletes. Friday and Saturday were big moments in the SASPD rugby season: the first real tournament of the year. With schools coming from Beijing and Hong Kong nothing but the best performance was expected of all teams attending. Hosted at SAS Pudong, many grudges and rivalries were expected to be settled on the field. The day before Bianca Andreescu brought back Canada’s first grand slam with a heroic US open win, Avery Park, junior, and Emil Kali, senior, brought back Shanghai American School Pudong’s first 1st place trophy of the year.
