Four SAS buses crash on Gaoke Road

MONDAY – Last week on October 28th, 7:42 AM, four SAS school buses were involved in a traffic accident. According to the email sent to parents by Emily Sargent-Beasley, Bus #137 first stopped abruptly in order to avoid crashing into a bicycle in the traffic lane. The bus behind was #199, and it had sufficient time to stop. But, buses #126 and #153 behind the first two did not have enough time to stop. “All buses incurred some level of damage, including broken windshields.” However, no injuries were reported from the incident. 2019-2020 Alumni Panel Provides Refreshing Take on the Wider World

On September 12, 2019, SASPD hosted its annual alumni panel during that week’s community meeting. This year, the alumni consisted of three students of the Class of 2009– Hamish McKenzie, Lennart Schwung, and Mike Chan. Unlike last year, the universities of the alumni this year span from Europe to Australia, as well as the United States. There was also a wider range of career paths that were presented–namely, teaching, marketing, and finally STEM management. A Melodious and Intense Selection: AMIS Selection Process

A student standing outside the recording room nervously taps her finger and hums the melody of Roman Carnival Overture. Inside the room, a student plays a similar tune. When the music inside subsides, she gathers her instrument—the cello—and gets ready. “Wish me luck!” she says, and enters.  Getting in AMIS—the Association for Music in International Schools—is the highest honor a high school music student can achieve.
